Texas SR 22 Auto Insurance

A Texas SR 22 Auto Insurance filing is simply not an actual insurance policy but is an endorsement that is included with an auto insurance policy. This is actually a document submitted by an insurance provider  on behalf of the insurance policy holder notifying the Dept. of Motor vehicle (DMV) that you are currently the within conformity with the state's minimum legal responsibility requirements for auto insurance. A number of states do not require an SR 22, however the Lone Star State does indeed, require a Texas SR 22 Auto Insurance filing.

Texas SR 22 Auto Insurance

is generally required after a traffic ticket has been issued for driving without Texas auto insurance verification or the state required amount of financial responsibility, DUI's/DWI's or other negligent traffic convictions.  And because of this, a person would more than likely be a good candidate for Texas SR 22 auto insurance.  In the state of Texas, a person is required to keep a Texas SR 22 Auto insurance for a period of at least 2 years from the date of an accident, conviction, or revocation.

If your
Texas SR 22 Insurance policy lapse, expire, cancel, or is not renewed as needed, the law requires the Texas auto insurance company to notify the Dept. of Motor Vehicle via SR 26 that you are no longer in compliance with the mandatory liability requirements of the State of Texas.  Not maintaining the required Texas SR22 Auto Insurance filing may result in having your driver's license suspended or revoked.  As of December 2009, Per the Star -Telegram, there has been over 481,000 (over 25%) uninsured motorist in Dallas,Texas.

A Texas auto insurance company may consider you too much of a risk and may issue you a Texas high risk auto insurance policy, or they may refuse to accept your application for insurance, altogether.  If you are rejected by at least two Texas auto insurance companies within the past 60 days, you may be a candidate for the Texas Auto Insurance Plan Association (TAIPA).  You can contact an independent agent to start application process.  Most auto insurance companies must participate as a member of this association (unless it is a county mutual company applying for an exemption).

An important component used to calculate your auto insurance quote is your driving history.  A poor driving record may leave you with few options in purchasing your policy.  Whether you purchase a Texas high risk auto insurance policy or Texas Auto Insurance Plan Association, the cost of this policy will be more expensive than the average auto insurance policy.
